Hey there ! For my first actual blog post i thought what better subject to talk about than complexion ?! Let me firstly start out by saying that the main and VERY important step to achieving a flawless canvas (complexion) is skincare and treatin' yo body right ! Ladies and gents, PLEASE take care of that skin of yours ! If your skin is as dry as the Sahara Desert no matter how "dewy" that foundation is, nothing will be able to take away the texture of your dry, dehydrated skin.. and that look just aint cute ! Get to know your skin.. you wouldn't believe the amount of people that don't know the first thing about their skin. Analyze how your skin feels after you wash it, how it reacts throughout the day with makeup on it, research products for your skin type, read reviews, and get to taking proper care of your skin, drink more water, eat foods that are actually good for your body and will help you skin from the inside out.. you'll thank me later i can assure you. Now that my skincare rant is out of the way, i'll get on to the point of this blogpost. These are my top 4 foundations that i've used over the corse of two years. I have had many ups and downs when it comes to foundations because i am not easily impressed and i have high standards that only a select few can live up to. i have more normal skin but if it's going to go one way, it's going to lean towards dry. If i don't properly wash, exfoliate, and moisturize my skin, it'll look and feel like a dragons tail. Now that this intro has went on for about 4 years now, let's get to talkin about these babes.

(Sad news about this photo.. I dropped my foundation right after this picture *-* RIP)
The foundation i've been using for the longest time is the Lancome Tient Idole Ultra 24H Makeup (that's a mouthful) in shade 260 Bisque N. Where do i begin with this foundation ?! I have never met someone that i use this foundation on them and they don't like it ! it says it's for more normal to oily skin, but honestly i think just about everyone can use it. I have normal to dry skin, and it never clings to any dry patch or blemish i may have. This baby gives amazinnnng coverage without looking cakey. I have really rosy cheeks and with one swipe and that redness is outta here ! You can build the coverage up or sheer it out depending on what you use to apply it. I typically use the beauty blender because it gives it a little more of a glow than a brush and sheers it out a bit. This wears beautifully no matter how short or long of time you leave it on, and it's transfer resistant. If you have more normal skin, there's no need to set it, and it'll still stay in place and no touch ups needed throughout the day. (if you're oily or combo i would set the areas that tend to get more oily) I've had to work a nine hour day then went out with friends after for several more hours and when i get home it's still in perfect place. no separation, no patches missing, it looks as if i just applied it. It pains me to have to take it off because it always looks so flawless even at the end of the night. How they made such an amazing versatile foundation that lives up to any expectation that you may have?.. i’m not sure.. must've been black magic honestly. My only complaint (which is so small compared to the amazingness that it is) is, it does flashback in pictures due to the SPF :( if you just add some bronzer or a powder without SPF over it, it doesn't look bad in pictures. Like i said, small complaint compared to how it performs in every other category.

The Nars Sheer Glow foundations is the one i tend to go for on a day to day basis (it's a tie between this and the Luminous Silk) One of the most important reasons why i love this guy is.. it matches my non tanned face, which is extremely hard for me to find a foundation to match me without a tan. I have one of the weirdest undertones.. it's not cool or warm but it's also not neutral.. it's more golden with a hint of neutral. confusing, i know. i have Fiji to match my pasty self and punjab for when i'm tanned. The coverage is so versatile ! You literally can get the coverage of a tinted moisturizer or build it up to full coverage without it looking like you just put on 50 layers. It's also not really glowy either... it isn't matte but it's not shiny it's the perfect in between ! I don't have to set this foundation either, but if i'm having a extra long day i'll go ahead a set it because it doesn't last as well as the Lancome 24 Hr. if you're more dry, normal/combo but not oily all over, you could also wear this and set it with a powder and you'd be good to go. my favorite way to apply it is with a brush to get the coverage built up faster, and then i go in with a beauty blender to press it into my skin and take away any streaks i might've had left from the brush. In my opinion, hands down Nars is one of, if not the best line for complexion. i swear by their radiant creamy concealers as well. You will not be disappointed if you give any of their products a try !

My next babe was one i had my eye on for a good minute before i decided to take the plunge and get it. It is really pricey for foundation but it is sooo worth it ! Without fail, every time i wear this i get people stopping me to ask what i'm wearing on my face. It is beautiful all across the board. It has a very similar finish to the Nars Sheer Glow but i find that this one sets into your skin a little more. This foundation gives you such a natural airbrush finish along with giving full coverage. When i'm wearing this it honestly feels like i have nothing on my skin, which is such a rare thing to find a foundation that gives you the coverage you want but feels so light on the skin. This bad boy is perfect for normal, normal to dry, normal to combo skin. It gives you such a pretty "lit from within" glow, no matter how much you put on or what you put on top of it. My go to look when i want to look extra glam is this with the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer set with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders in Dim and Celestial Glow. Talk about radiant (without looking oily of course) If you've been contemplating this foundation because of the price, i say go for it, you will be hooked for life ! (my shade is 5.75 btw.. and it's my tan shade)

The last foundation that i really am crazy about it the YSL Touché Éclat foundation in B40. This guy is soo illuminating ! The bottle is so gorg and it smells really nice as well haha. If you are oily or even combo i wouldn't recommend this because it is super glowy. My dry skin really soaks it up and it looks so beautiful. I will say if i wear this one i go easy on the highlighter otherwise i look a lil greasy. This guy will also make you look airbrushed when ya wear it. This looks BEAUTIFUL in pictures ! It diffuses any blemish you might have and makes you look like you have perfect skin but aren't wearing anything. (black magic also had to've gone in the making of this foundation) I like to rotate between using my Beauty Blender and brush with this, I don't notice a huge difference one way or the other. I just use whatever is clean and near me. I've tried the new YSL ink foundation and i wasn't as crazy about it because it is more matte and really sheer. It wasn't awful but i would much prefer this one 100x's more. If they ever do away with this foundation i will be the crazy lady that buys 50 of them and then writes them a letter telling them they are doing a terrible terrible act and must be stopped. Yeah, i love it that much.
So (five hours later) that pretty much sums up my top 4 foundations. I'm sorry if this was super repetitive, i just look for pretty much the same thing when i go to buy a foundation therefore all of them have really similar properties. Hope this gave y'all some insight to what i use and think lives up to my standards of foundations. If you were thinking about buying any of them i say go for it 110% ! Please leave me request on what y'all would like for me to post about next and give me ideas ! Also don't forget to add me on IG, Twitter (I'm the worst tweeter), and Snapchat !
